Lafayette, La. - The Fall 2010 season of Downtown Alive! continues this Friday, November 19, 2010 in Parc International with The Viatones, and a special performance by Battle of the Bands winner, Karma Protocol.

For 27 years, Downtown Alive! has united community and culture to create a weekly tradition and celebration in Downtown Lafayette every Fall and Spring,  offering great entertainment in the form of free, family-friendly, smoke free, outdoor concerts.

The Viatones:
Blayze Viator (age 23), grew up in Nashville, Tenn. and formed what would slowly evolve into The Viatones back in 1998. Over a period of 9 years, the band performed regularly at nearly every premiere venue in Nashville, and released two full-length albums. In 2007 and 2009, The Viatones performed at Vanderbilt's Rites of Spring Music Festival, opening for Kings of Leon, Flaming Lips, and Old Crow Medicine Show. Viator wound up back in Louisiana in 2009, continuing what he started with some of Lafayette's finest musicians.

Two-time Grammy nominee, Chris Stafford (22), makes up 1/4 of The Viatones, on lead-guitar, keys, and vocals. Known primarily for his roles in such popular Cajun bands as Feufollet, Cedric Watson et Bijou Creole, and more, few people are aware of Stafford's rock n' roll side. Sharing an huge amount of common musical influences with Viator, from Hank Sr. to The Beatles, the collaboration of the two good friends was imperative.

Singer-songwriter, Christiaan Mader (26) on bass, and drummer, Peter Dehart (26), make up the other half of The Viatones. The two friends have been making great music together for over 8 years in the psychedelic pop-rock band, Brass Bed, and have played all across the state and country. Equally capable singers, as well as great musicians, the two top off this Vintage Rock band.  Visit their page on MySpace.

This DTA! will also feature Battle of the Bands contest winner, Karma Protocol performing their winning song at 5:45 p.m. This 4 piece hard rock band from Lafayette, features Sammy Vincent, Jon Stephenson, Joseph Milliman and Chase LaBure. Their winning song, "Never the Way," is about the struggles that life brings, the situations you are placed in and how people try to answer the question, "Why did this happen to me?"

Sponsored by Cox Communications, Lafayette Coca-Cola, Let's Be Totally Clear, and Teche Drugs Pharmacy, DTA! features performances by Grammy Nominated, renowned and up and coming musicians representing a variety of genres ranging from Cajun, Swamp Pop, Blues, Rock, Latin and more.
