Louisiana's Jasmine Anderson was named Sun Belt Women's Track Athlete of the Week by the league office on Tuesday following a pair of Top 10 finishes at the Texas A&M Conference Challenge last Saturday.

One of those Top 10 finishes saw Anderson run a personal best (8.38) time in the 60 meter hurdles, placing fourth in the event. After one weekend of the indoor season, Anderson ranks 12th nationally in the women's 60 meter hurdles.

Anderson also finished eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time 24.51 which established another personal best for the senior from Hammond and is the top mark in the Sun Belt this season.

The Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's track and field teams will return to action Friday-Saturday, Jan. 28-29 when they compete in the University of Houston Indoor Invitational & Multi's at Yeoman Fieldhouse on the UH campus.

Other notes on Anderson:

2009 Indoor: Ran a 8.11 at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, the fastest time of the season for the Cajuns in the 55 meter hurdles ... Ran a 8.93 in the 60 meter hurdles at the Purple Tiger Classic, also the fastest time for a Cajun all season long.

2009 Outdoor: Dominated the 100 meter hurdles for the Cajuns with her best time being 13.96 ... Also ran the second best time in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.76.

2008 Outdoor: Led the team in the high jump with a height of five feet three inches...Second on the team in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.50 at the Tiger Relays...Ran the third leg of the Cajuns 4x400 relay team.

2008 Indoor Season: Led the team with a time of 9.02 seconds in the 60m hurdles...Second on the team in the 60m dash with a time of 8.11.

High School: Attended Acadiana High School from 2002-2005...Graduated from Hammond High School...Four-year letterwinner in track and field...Was state champion in the 100m hurdles in 2006...Placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles at the Disney Junior Olympics meet...Earned All-State and All-District accolades.
