An off-season trip already took place in late January as several team members and team captains Stinne Soendergaard and Steve Critchley went to Polk City, FL. The UL Water Ski team was named "Best Team of the Year" by the National Collegiate Water Ski Association.  Here's the comment of the NCWSA:

UL went from last season where they weren't even in the hunt for the championship to a winning season with some new recruits and upper classmen that stepped up their game and came together as a cohesive team to win it all. This team performed as they needed to do on the day they needed to do it. Their tenacity as individuals brought a team spirit and drive together that couldn't be beat this year.

Other awards:
Male Athlete of the Year: Storm Selsor, Arizona State.
Female Athlete of the Year: Alex Lauretano, ULM
Male Outstanding Leader of the Year: Matt Knafla, Iowa State
Female Outstanding Leader of the Year: Stephanie Elhoffer, Missouri State

Meanwhile, the Ragin' Cajuns are back on the water of Airport Lake, getting ready for the spring season. Still excited about the National Title in the Fall semester, the UL skiers are gradually starting to attack the ramp and the slalom course, as well as refine their trick runs.

The first tournament is scheduled for March 26th and it will be hosted by Texas A&M at Stevenson Ski Ranch in Conroe, TX.  The "Polar Bear" is a well-known appointment for the South Central Region, as it has started the last four seasons.

On a side note, the team welcomes back LSU to the water ski scene, and to Jaime Wallace who is leading the process. UL hopes to see the Tigers at Polar Bear.
