Ragin' Cajuns volleyball player Lindsay Brown was selected as the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Lindsay Brown, University of Louisiana Volleyball, Sun Belt Conference Player of the WeekA strong defensive showing at the Comfort Suites/SHSU Invitational in which she logged five digs per set led to Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns volleyball libero Lindsay Brown being selected Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Brown, who led the Sun Belt in digs per set in league play last season, picked up right where she left off to start the 2009 campaign. In the Ragin' Cajuns opening weekend at Sam Houston State, Brown collected 70 digs over 14 sets for an average of 5.00 digs per set.

She reached double figures in digs each match, with her total increasing each time out. Brown tied her career-high with 25 digs in the championship match against Sam Houston State.

Her performance was without blemish as she did not commit a single reception error the entire weekend.

Dating back to last season, Brown is now on a string of 10 consecutive matches with double-digit digs and has reached double figures in 17 of her last 18 appearances on the court.

After the first weekend of play, she leads the Sun Belt Conference in digs per set.

The honor is the first for Brown in her career and first for Louisiana since Sept. 24, 2007 when Erika Castro was named SBC Defensive Player of the Week.
