The College of the Arts at the University of Louisiana has announced that the honoree for the 6th Annual Festival of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award. This year’s recipient will be Joe Stewart, a Lafayette native and award-winning television and theatre production designer.

In 2010, four exhibitions were pre-selected for the Annette Giacometti Prize, all of them raising public awareness about the problem of fakes and forgeries. Two large London museums and one large American museum were nominated, along with one small, southern academic museum, UL's own University Art Museum. UAM Director Mark Tullos, Jr. will travel to Paris for the May 16th award dinner at Le Restaurant UNESCO, part of The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

UL Assistant Professor of Theatre Camille Bulliard, has been awarded a Faculty Fellowship to represent Region 6 of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, at the festival’s National event in Washington, D.C.

Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and poet Zachary Richard will receive an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from the University of Louisiana during the Graduate School commencement ceremony on Dec. 20. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Cajundome.
