The Flora Plonsky Levy Lecture in the Humanities at the University of Louisiana will be held on the Lafayette Main Campus in Angelle Hall on October 4th at 7:00 PM. Moshe Halbertal, distinquished theologian and philosopher, will deliver a lecture entitled "On Giving, Dignity and Dependency in the Talmud."
Professor of English at the University of Virginia and prize-winning scholar, Dr. Mark Edmundson will deliver the annual Flora Plonsky Levy Lecture in the Humanities on UL’s campus on Wednesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Hall Auditorium. The lecture is entitled “Freud's Heroism.” This year’s lecture is dedicated to the memory of Jewell Parkerson Lowe for lifetime dedication to serving others through the establishment of the Southwest Louisiana Education and Referral Center / 232-HELP.
Jeffery Renard Allen, winner of the 2010 Ernest J Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, will give a reading at the University of Louisiana. The event, presented by the university’s Ernest J. Gaines Center, will take place Monday, January 25, at 1:00 pm, in the Louisiana Room of the Edith Garland Dupré Library.

Megan Elizabeth Broussard, the daughter of Brandon and Mary Broussard of Lafayette is the Spring 2009 Outstanding Graduate for the College of Liberal Arts. She is a public relations major with minors in business and Spanish.
Dr. Jordan Kellman is an historian of science, a francophile, and one of the two new Associate Deans of Liberal Arts. He talks about how he came to UL, and how his work here tightly fits with his interests.
