After becoming only the third player in UL women's basketball history to score 39 points in a game, Mercedes Johnson has been tabbed the Sun Belt Conference Player of the week.
The Cajuns will look to rebound from a 38-88 loss at UALR as UNO comes to Earl K. Long Gym on Wednesday. UL trails in the all-time series 25-46, but have defeated the Lady Privateers in 10 of the last 12 meetings.
The Cajuns are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time since the end of the 2007-08 season and their first Sun Belt win in 22 conference games.
Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball team will be the road this week, facing two Sun Belt opponents this weekend. First up for the Cajuns will be Western Kentucky on Thursday at 2 p.m. CT followed by Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
The Cajuns will be participating in the Sue Gunter Classic hosted by LSU on Tuesday and Wednesday in Baton Rouge, La. On Tuesday, UL will face the 2009 MEAC Tournament Champions, North Carolina A&T, at 4:30 p.m. CT. Depending on the outcome, the Cajuns will face either No. 5 LSU or Houston Baptist on Wednesday.
