Washington, DC - UL alumnus and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Charles Boustany, sent a letter on October 6 to Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Shulman requesting general information on the tax-exempt sector, including updates on IRS audit and compliance activities related to tax-exempt organizations. He included specific questions about universities and hospitals in his request.

In the Spring of 1968, USL freshman trampolinist Judi Ford was annoyed to find out that she would have to forego her Summer job in Lafayette in order to compete in the Miss Illinois pageant. To her surprise (and even dismay) she won the pageant, and then on September 7th of that year, she was crowned Miss America. ultoday.com caught up with her recently, and discovered that she not only remembers UL fondly, but that she is also one very funny lady.

Alumna Continues UL Banned Book Tradition in Ohio

UL alumna Amanda Anderson, now an English instructor at Washington State CC in Marietta OH has continued a tradition she experienced as graduate student at UL: she has organized students and staff there to read books that have been banned at various times and places across the United States. The event is part of Banned Books Week, an annual event held to show support for First Amendment rights and to promote the free exchange of ideas.

NEW YORK -- UL alumna Charlotte Beers, Director and Chairman of the Nominating & Corporate Governance Committee for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. has shepherded in the return of Martha Stewart to the Board of Directors. With the addition of Ms. Stewart, the Board has been expanded to include nine members.
